about
"Midnight Hour is a pop-rock new wave song about the end of the world. Its dark lyrical subject matter mirrors the uncertain times that we all live in. It's about global warming, it's about mother nature, it's about karma, and it's about the wicked things that men do for profit. Hoyt and I wanted to write an anthem for 2020." ~ Carly Emerick (songwriter, half of Candy Apple Blue)
Midnight Hour is more pop-rock than our usual synth-pop. We needed to rock out a little harder this time around. So we called upon Micah Blakeslee and his electric guitar to toughen up our song. We have William Rule (the lead singer of the band The Divys) on guest lead vocals.
Verse 1:
The full moon in the sky beckons me
as the nightbird takes to flight
The cleansing of the old was meant to be
We're all running out of time
Lead-In:
The powers that be that divide the sea
are coming for you and me
Chorus:
We're in the mid, midnight hour
Let's dance until we die, no one's getting out alive
We're in the mid, midnight hour
We'll never see the dawn, the world will soon be gone
Verse 2:
Apocalyptic tears fall from the sky
They've come to purify the earth
The gift of prophecy and second sight
forewarned us all of a rebirth
Lead-In 2:
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
We blew it. Now they're coming for us
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge:
The gods above us, where can you be?
Can you help us save humanity?
Mother nature although you've tried, mankind committed suicide
Final Chorus:
We're in the mid, midnight hour
You can scream and close your eyes but it cannot be denied
We're in the mid, midnight hour
Judgment day is here, you have everything to fear
We're in the mid, midnight hour
Let's dance until we die, no one's getting out alive
We're in the mid, midnight hour
Yeah! Close your eyes, close your eyes
Close your eyes and scream!
